I hear from entrepreneurs or marketers all the time who are so stressed about learning all the newest, latest, greatest technologies.
And while I’m a huge fan of new technology (usually an early-to-mid adopter), I have to frequently remind myself about one very important thing:
It’s not about the technology, it’s about the people.
If more marketers or entrepreneurs would spend more time on learning what it takes to interact with a customer on a human level instead of learning how to devise an instagram campaign that also feeds into tumblr, they’d be bounds ahead of their competition.
Because at the end of the day, technology comes and goes.
But we stay human.
We have to learn how to tweak our messages to fit into different channel formats.
We have to learn to tell stories in different ways.
And we have to stay “on top of things.”
But, if we don’t have a solid foundation of learning what it means to be human when we’re doing business, we don’t stand a chance.
It’s not about the technology. It never will be.
It’s about the people.
